In 1986, Viet Nam launched a political and economic campaign that introduced reform to facilitate the transition from a centralized economy to a socialist-oriented market economy. Đổi Mới combined planning with free-market incentives and encouraged the establishment of private businesses and foreign investment, including foreign-owned enterprises.///En 1986, le Vietnam a lancé une campagne politique et économique. Celle-ci a présenté une réforme en vue de faciliter la transition d’une économie centralisée à celle de marché à orientation socialiste. Đổi Mới (Renouveau) a combiné la planification avec de nombreuses incitations au marché libre et elle a encouragé la création d'entreprises privées et les investissements étrangers, y compris des entreprises étrangères.///Năm 1986, Việt Nam đã phát động chiến dịch chính trị và kinh tế đưa ra cải cách nhằm tạo thuận lợi cho quá trình chuyển đổi từ nền kinh tế tập trung sang nền kinh tế thị trường định hướng xã hội chủ nghĩa. Chính sách Đổi Mới đã kết hợp quy hoạch với thúc đẩy thị trường tự do và khuyến khích thành lập các doanh nghiệp tư nhân và đầu tư nước ngoài, bao gồm cả các doanh nghiệp nước ngoài.

In 1989, as Viet Nam opened to the west and as part of the country’s effort to promote inward investment, David Weil, as part of an international investment team, was invited to visit Viet Nam to investigate investment opportunities.///En 1989, le Vietnam s’est ouvert à l’ouest.
